Peeling carrots, listening to the CBC canadian songwriters stream on tinny laptop speakers. Â The cheap but functional speakers have a certain charm that make me think of an old transistor radio.
A small glass of scotch in hand, I prepare for tomorrows dinner at an easy pace. Â My girls are upstairs getting ready for bed. Â Giggles wriggle their way down the stairs now and then, warming up the room in a way only little girl giggles can.
My bread doughs are thriving atop the refrigerator, adding just that little extra bit of life to the room.  It’s subtle, but I feel it’s presence and I am happy that I took the time to make them.  I will be even happier to serve the finished product to my family tomorrow.  It’s a little, but tasty way to say “I love you”.
The carrots are done, on to the beans. Â I’m sure I will steal a good number before I’m done. Â Fresh from a local farm market as are most things for our dinner tomorrow. Â I really enjoy living in an agricultural area, and particularly one that encourages people to eat and shop close to home. Â It makes me feel like I am part of a community, rather than just a person residing in one. One bean for you, one bean for me….
I had to go find my slippers. Â They completed the picture in my head that is trying to manifest itself in the moment. Â Also a quick switch to the classical music stream…
So many I have seen today are saying what they are thankful for. Family, friends, job, money…Â It’s nice to have a day to remind us to think of what we often take for granted. I’m thankful for all of those as well. Â What am I most thankful for? Â I am thankful that what I just wrote is not fiction. Â I am thankful that I am living a life that I am proud of.
Be well friends. Â ![]()
