Mobile Internet – It’s all part of the plan
So I’ve recently had oppourtunity to play with the Rogers Rocket Stick.
Basically a 3G network connection for your PC via a small USB stick.
I have to say, while it may not work for everyone in every situation, I’m impressed.
I remember clearly a time when a 1200 baud connection to connect to a single computer via a phone line was cutting edge technology for the home.
I’m now surfing on a laptop while driving down the road at 100km’hr pulling a 4Mbps connection out of the air.
Any product that can do this for me is a winner. It’s part of the network evolution I dreamed about and envisioned since I was about 12 years old.
If all goes well, in another 20 years I’ll be sporting a full heads up display seamlessly embedded into my field of vision and I’ll be querying the whole of humanity’s combined knowledge with little more than a twitch of thought.
Now, is it worth the money? I can’t speak to that since it’s not costing me anything.
But if it’s expensive now, in a couple of years it won’t be so bad and I guarantee it will touch your life in some way.

Is 3G new in Canada? I know it’s not too prevalent in the US, but for some reason I always assumed Canada was different – no idea why I thought that as thinking about it now I guess your networks interact with theirs.
Anyway, 4Mb? Pfft.
