“HI PANTS!”
I stopped myself in my tracks today, realizing that I was alone in the house, saying a big howdy-do to the pair of pants laying in my closet. This is something Lily tends to like to do, (say hello to anything and everything) and I think all the daily mimicing of her behaivours is having a profound effect.
The other day at work I knocked over a coffee cup on my desk and let loose an emphatic “UH OH!” that I think the whole floor may have heard. “CUP GO BOOM”
It seems that my inner monologue is taking on the voice of a 1.5 year old child, and has turned into an outer monologue. It also seems almost inevitable that once toilet training starts I will begin to announce my imminent bowel movements to anyone within earshot. “OH I HAVE TO POTTY!”, they will hear as they see a fully grown man running past their cubicle holding his behind…
Is this normal parental behaviour? Or am I just expressing my inner child because I have a convenient excuse? ![]()
