A thought about Privacy
I think upon inspection you would find that those most worried about privacy and the peering eye of big brother, are the same people who would be the most upset to find out that no one actually cares.

I think that is the most naive and back-to-front view that I have heard so far this week. I think the people who most value their privacy are the very people who would be most upset that they are being taken notice of, especially when it is unasked for attention.

I’m thinking that these are not really mutually exclusive ideas.
Finding out that no one actually cares would, in my opinion, be a startling blow to many peoples sense of self importance.
There are surely exceptions, but so many feel that they are the centre of the world, and that everyone must be vastly interested in their day to day bits and dealings. To have this replaced with the feeling that they simply aren’t that interesting would most likely leave them feeling profoundly lonely.
