I have never tested the theory but apparently a dishwasher uses a lot less water than doing the dishes by hand. So it saves energy and frustration. Double bonus. We use all energy efficient bulbs and rarely have more than a couple lights on at any one time. I have even started putting my computer to sleep at night and during the day when I am at work. We use either a new electric corded lawn mower or a reel mower which uses no power but mine. :)
Once you get into the green thing it gets kind of addictive. What can you do next to save some more energy? :)
